Minibeasts

Term four's topic is minibeasts.
Minibeast is a term that is often used in schools to refer to small invertebrates that can be found around the school or at home in your gardens or local parks.

We've already looked at food webs and begun to use terms such as predator, carnivore, herbivore, comsumer and producer.

We've also started to look at how an animal's place in the food chain affects the way it looks.
We've used this fantastic website to try to develop the most invincible minibeast possible by thinking about which qualities make them strong. Try it at home, it's loads of fun.

This gorgeous slater spider is fantastic example of a specialised predator. His huge fangs have developed to pierce the slater's armour (don't panic though, he's really no bigger than a 20c piece).

Found a bug?

Not sure what it is?
