Welcome to the Room 5 Blog. This space will be used to share information, resources and work from the amazing children in Room 5 at Mornington School.

Movember is upon us and once again I will be supporting the charity. You can make donations, check on my progress and find out who my moustache heroes are at my MoSpace page.

Even though we finished our space topic in Term 2, the slideshow I've just added on the space page from the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2012 contest is definitely worth a look. Some of the pictures of the Transit of Venus are amazing.

I have added links to a range of fraction games on the maths page.

The Olympics are drawing to a close, but Room 5 are still fascinated by them. Fortunately we get to enjoy the Paralympics from the 29th of August onwards.

We enjoyed watching the Transit of Venus using the school's safe solar viewers. It's amazing to think that it was measurements taken by people watching this event helped scientists work out the distance between us and the sun.
We used Lucy's telescope to project an image of the transit onto paper.
Venus is the dot that you can see at the 2 o'clock position.

Lucy's dad sent us some photos of the transit that he had taken using a filter on his camera.

Update 18th May 2012
Take a look at the poetry page. Instead of the poem we have shared, this week we have added some of our own.
